London doesn't need more preserved old town centres, but more places for people to live and to get denser and what better place to do this than Dalston with its new excellent transport links. Dalston is a great place, but pretty it ain't. These developments neither make it prettier nor uglier even though I might agree that they are pushing it a bit in terms of scale and intensity. However, a more serious problem is the fact that pretty much all of it is for the private market, we need more high quality rented homes.Ejselnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14932341.post-30014908089385488712007-10-29T21:02:00.000+00:002007-10-29T21:02:00.000+00:00Ken wants an Olympic bus stationSo he billed it as...Ken wants an Olympic bus station
So he billed it as regeneration
He’ll get his own way
And Hackney can pay
So its b*llocks to conservation

The buildings were terribly ancient
Quite useless for gentrification
They knocked them all down
To build a New Town
Just like others all over the nation

There’ll be hundreds of flats to be sold
Find a Chair who’s loyal and bold
Shed a crocodile tear
But steer the plans clear
Will Jules get his gong as foretold?

Luke gave Darren a nod and a wink
But the voting went right to the brink
His boss said “that’s nice”
Darren cast his vote twice
And that caused a terrible stink.Clear Hardlyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16048247783394975448noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14932341.post-22672489001092507882007-09-14T00:08:00.000+01:002007-09-14T00:08:00.000+01:00It is rather sad the way many London Councils are ...It is rather sad the way many London Councils are selling the family silver. Do they have contempt for the public that they behave in this way?. If you go to other countries you can see that they preserve the character and culture of their towns!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
